What is I.R.E.S.?
A regional centre of excellence, designed to act as a coordination point for current and planned recycling projects throughout South West Wales; in particular, those projects which have a particular accent on high added value end products, with the aim of sharing best practice with other interested parties in the area.
What does it aim to do?
- Optimise the social and sustainable value of waste in South West Wales.
- Alert all interested parties to local market developments along with examples of best practice in the various projects being undertaken.
- Assist local waste recycling initiatives in South West Wales to source waste streams and match them to local markets for goods made from recycled materials.
- Foster sustainable development through assisting in the creation of long term employment opportunities in the materials recovery services sector and through encouraging all participants to adopt best practices in their operations.
- Assist local recycling initiatives to actively contribute to economic regeneration through the manufacture and retailing of locally sourced recyclable materials for local markets.
